Examining the unique historical experiences of African American Women

Hurt is a historical exploration of the legal, socially accepted, domestic and sexual violence against black female bodies and the staggering present-day consequences of this history for black women and girls. Hurt offers a unique experience called AETS (pronounced “eights”) where audiences have an opportunity to experience “sensory immersion” in relation to major areas of legal sexual and domestic violence against black female bodies. Hurt aims to deepen our connection to and empathy for African American women and girl’s collective journey from enslavement to Jim Crow by connecting present day perceptions with centuries old projections.

This workshop is an unforgettable experience!
